Final Reflection
In my group work, I notice and acknowledge linguistic differences and modes of expression, I integrate the different ways that people expressed themselves especially when working as a group and on assignments. Like the assignment of technical description where I need to use technical words to describe an item, the purpose of the item, how it works, how it’s made, and the parts of the item where I need to do graphics and name it. An example is rhetorical analysis of lab reports where I need to read two different lab reports and make a lab reports. In that lab report I compare two different method of vibration testing on bridges. Another example is the infographic assignment where I need to provide some visual information (images, icons, colors).
Another example of the linguistic difference that I use for the technical description is “Most can openers press a cutting wheel into the edge of the lid while a rough support wheel presses up under the lip of the can. Can opener that drives with that support wheel can provide easier motion. Non-electric can openers with this feature can be identified by a set of gears behind the cutting and support wheels”. An example of the linguistic differences that I used for the rhetorical analysis of lab report is “The mode shapes before and after the repairs are compared in Fig. 10. The full mode shape for mode 2 was no identified because the vibrator was located close to a node of this mode. Mode 2 had been omitted from Fig. 10 and will not be referred to in subsequent discussions. Fig. 10 shows a large difference in the mode shapes at the repaired span DE especially for modes 7. That was why elements of the mode-shape matrix corresponding to those points are relatively large for some modes”. An example of the linguistic difference that I use for the infographic is Fig.1, a part of the infographic where I talk about the benefits of the meditation and tell the audience the benefits form a study made in Harvard for 3 years that says that meditation improve the cardiovascular health.

Thanks to the several peer reviews that I made in class just the act of reviewing the work help me to change the way I saw my work. The critique also help me to change the way that I’ll look my work in the future because constructive critique help me to see where I was making mistake or thing that I miss on my work. I was not pleased with the way I was revising my work but thanks to the review part I got more knowledge for my revisions.
This is an example of my technical description where I forget to cite my introduction: “A can opener (in North American English and Australian English) or tin opener (used in British English) is a mechanical device used to open tin cans (metal cans). Although preservation of food using tin cans had been practiced since at least 1772 in the Netherlands, the first can openers were not patented until 1855 in England and 1858 in the United States”. I did not cite my introduction.
While I was writing my proposals and my presentation, I was aware of my audience so my audience could understand the information that I will provide to them. I need to adjust my work according to my audience because sometime there were difference between my presentation and my literature review. I need to adjust because my audience change an example of that was that my physics project was supposed to be for other student but two days before the presentation, I heard that the professor will be there so I need to adjust my project a little bit more scientific, my project was about noise pollution at Hostos Library, but thanks to this class I could make those changes and prepare for any surprise.u
My group and I develop a method of collaborating online, we used google docs online, so we can be comfortable at home and be working in the same project at the same time. Sometimes we take a break and start asking question about our life. We change number and if we have any doubt or want to ask something we can just ask for message or call. We also follow each other on social media. This is a picture about our interactions.

A multimodal that I engage in was the infographic “Benefits of Meditation” were I need to transmit information with more than just work, I use image, icons, and colors. The image, icons, and colors transmit a message that the audience don’t need to know how to read to understand the message. Another example was the technical description where I type and show with images instructions of how to open a can with a mechanical can opener.
I always try thinking about my point of view when I am writing because that let me focus in the purpose of why I’m writing a paragraph. When I was doing my conclusion for the technical description, an example of it is “the can opener is used to open cans of preserves and canned food. Can openers have evolved, although the original model from 1870 has remained unchanged. This is still used today and although there is electric can openers, many people still choose to buy the manual can opener”.
The databases that I used to locate my sources is the Hostos Library Database. This is picture of the database from Hostos Library Database.

This is the references from the databases that I accessed in the process.

In my analysis of literature on my topic, I was required to look at source in a different way. In the beginning I was not aware the importance of the credibility of the source but after some discussion in class the professor made clear the importance of being aware of the credibility of the source because there are a lot of websites that have a lor of information that were not credible because anyone could has written that information, articles, etc. Another point that I want to clear is the importance of organizing the source, evaluate the source if is credible or not to then start working on my paper, and doing citation in the paper from where I took the source.
